How Do I
Get a Library Card
All Barren County residents, ages 5 and older, are eligible for a free library card. Adults (16+) must provide a photo ID with proof of address. Children (5-15) need a parent or guardian’s signature and library card. Non-residents who own property or work in Barren County can also get a free card, while others can purchase one for $25 annually.
Teachers can get a separate card for classroom use with extended loan periods and no late fees. Items must be for classroom purposes only.
There is a $3 replacement fee for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.
For more details, including responsibilities and policies, read our full Library Card Policy.

Request a Book

How Do I
Renew a Book or Place a Hold
Renew a Book
You can renew most items online, by phone, or in person. Simply log in to your library account, select the item you want to renew, and confirm your request. Renewals are allowed as long as no one else has placed a hold on the item and you haven’t reached the renewal limit.
Place a Hold
If the book you want is already checked out, you can place a hold through your online account or by asking a librarian. Once the book is available, we’ll notify you by email, text, or phone, depending on your preferences. You’ll have a set number of days to pick it up.
